Men of Mission, a group of men who meet for prayer, support, and fellowship in the city of Mission, B.C were in Saskatchewan on July, 2008. Our group is interested in the mineral exploration that recently discovered coal in the Hudson Bay area. With the size and significance of this discovery, we realized that something important was happening. An open invitation was given to our group to be involved in prayer for the town of Hudson Bay, community issues, mineral exploration, and First Nations. Four men, all with previous experience in Saskatchewan, accepted the invitation.

Our group represented families from English, Mennonite, French Canadian/Metis heritage, each having family with roots in Saskatchewan. Between the four of us, three men had grandparents who were settlers and the fourth became a Canadian citizen in Saskatoon. So, we all felt that we were returning home. Two years earlier, one of the men felt the Lord was telling him to buy property in Saskatchewan near Leask where it is being developed as a place for refreshment, renewal as well as worship and healing.

On July 14, we flew from Abbotsford to Saskatoon. We continued our journey to Hudson Bay encountering a major hail storm that slowed us down. Amazingly, when we arrived in PA we encountered a young First Nations man who had just been told to pray for us while he sat in Tim Hortons. We realized as we prayed together about our mission that this was a divine appointment.

For two days the Lord led us to pray in the town of Hudson Bay. Usually one of us received an impression, or a leading from God and another member either added to it or affirmed it. In this way a lot of prayer and proclamation took place. The following week, on July 25, we returned to Hudson Bay to continue to pray for the mineral exploration and the town. This time there were 5 in our group and contact was made with local pastors. It was interesting to meet a local person of prayer who revealed that the issues we had been praying from our earlier visit were on target and that our visit was an answer to this intercessor’s prayer. In fact, this intercessor has been doing prayer walks and interceding for the community for more than 20 years! What is happening appears to be an answer to many years of intercession for the town of Hudson Bay and area, the Lord having provided a similar message about the same issues to different people.

In the end we have been amazed at how the Lord spoke and revealed his will. We are amazed at what God is doing in the soil, minerals, and people of Saskatchewan and feel honoured to be a part of it!
